Sustainable Urban Horticulture and Agriculture Handbook

Statement of Students’ Academic Responsibilities

Your success as a student depends, above all, on your own response to the opportunities and responsibilities that the university environment provides. The Centre for Open Learning and Educational Support is committed to supporting you in your intellectual development and responding to your individual needs, however, at the same time, we recognize that, as a student here, you are responsible for:

  • familiarizing yourself with the Sustainable Urban Horticulture and Agriculture program handbook, paying special attention to University of Guelph policies, grading procedures, and continuation of study regulations;
  • contacting the Open Learning program Manager for appropriate approvals, for clarification of the University's rules and regulations, or for guidance in forming your educational goals and making academic plans;
  • accessing your course website in the first week of class and meeting the course requirements as specified;
  • familiarizing yourself with the Schedule of Dates with particular attention to deadlines;
  • consulting with the Open Learning program Manager for information about Academic Consideration Regulations and Procedures if extenuating circumstances affect your academic performance;
  • understanding what constitutes Academic Misconduct and abiding by the University’s policy regardless of location of study;
  • adhering to any rules of conduct provided by an instructor, an assistant or the Centre for Open Learning and Educational Support;
  • check your email account regularly for important communications, as this is the primary conduit by which the Centre for Open Learning and Educational Support will notify you of events, deadlines, announcements or any other official information.
